An Aerial View of Madison, N.J. Settled about 1710, Madison was named in honor of President Madison. It is a fine residential community of 14,000 population situated 25 miles west of New York City. Known at one time as "Bottle Hill", Madison today is the home of Drew University and Fairleigh-Dickinson University.
